RESPECT FOR THE ENVIROMENT
Menorca is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and with this philosophy, our hotel contributes to the conservation of the environment by cooperating with the measures and renewable energy. Specifically, domestic hot water is produced by aero thermal energy (heat pump), a clean energy that captures air from outside. We have photovoltaic panels for self-consumption electricity in the hotel. Almost all the electrical energy generated is used in the hotel itself and the excess is transferred to the external network. Finally, we have installed a system to collect rainwater. This water uses an independent network and serves for the consumption of the toilets and for irrigation.

IDEAL LOCATION
Our hotel is located on Carrer Menor, a historic street that is part of the original medieval town of Alaior. The town of Alaior was created after the Catalan-Aragonese conquest of Menorca by the king Alfons in the 13th century. In 1301 the existence of the parish of Santa Eulàlia, but it was in 1304 when King Jaume II of Majorca ordered the purchase of the old Islamic farmhouse of Ihalor. And precisely from here derives the current name of the population: Alaior. In the fourteenth century the town developed around the hill on where the Santa Eulalia church is located, the highest part and with the best views in the area. Our hotel was one of the first houses built on the hill, very close to the church and other notable historic buildings such as the Town Hall. From this pedestrian street you can walk quietly through the historic center of the city, and at the same time, it is well connected with nearby parking areas. But the hotel’s location is not only ideal within Alaior, but also in relation to the island. Alaior is only 15 minutes by car from Menorca airport, and if you arrive by boat, also from the port of Mahón. Being an inland city, it allows you to move easily and quickly anywhere, whether you are looking for beaches on the north or south coast, or if you prefer a more cultural plan or to take a tour of other towns. Being well connected is also important if you come to Menorca for business. For these reasons, our hotel is a perfect option for whatever your plans may be.

A HOUSE WITH HISTORY
The Carrer Menor has always been part of the commercial center of the town and the same can be said of our house, located at number 13. Many stories have been lived right here throughout the centuries. After having been the home of the tailor Francisco Victory Prats, in 1894, the pharmacist Antonio Villalonga Pons, a native of Alaior and at that time owner of the Es Mercadal pharmacy, bought the house and set up a pharmacy office in it. On August 31, 1902 Antonio Villalonga passed away but ownership of the business remained in the hands of Pedro Pujadas Cebríá, Originally from Girona, where he officially received the academic title of Bachelor of Pharmacy in the year 1903, Pujadas later married a daughter of the late Villalonga. Throughout his life, in addition to operating his father-in-law’s pharmacy, he was the titular pharmaceutical inspector of the Municipality of Alaior for nineteen years. At the hotel we lovingly keep a balance of the old pharmacy, which reminds us of the historical past that the house has lived through. In 1950, the merchant Feliciano Rosselló Huguet bought the property together with his wife Margarita Petrus Triay. They opened a small and very popular store called ‘Can Felís’ where the sold hardware products, household goods and groceries, among other things. Feliciano was also a wine merchant and distributed the wine around the island with his horses. In fact, in this house there was a ramp for the animals to go down to the basement, which functioned as a stable. Currently, the basins for the horses’ food and drink are kept in the basement. After the death of Feliciano Rosselló, the house was awarded to his wife, and since the marriage had no descendants, and after Margarita’s death in 2007, it was bequeathed to her niece, Irene Monclús Petrus, the daughter of her sister María Petrus Triay. On January 2, 2018, decided to sell the house to Juana Llopis Mascaró, who purchased it to transform it into a hotel. When Encant de Alaior opens its doors in 2020, the house had already been converted into a hotel.
